About the Porsche 911 GT3
These digits command respect: 9-1-1. Not only in the US is this code legendary—in the world over, it signals a sports car with true myth status. But we’re not talking about heavyweight law enforcement—this is a car that’s made automotive history.
Did Ferry Porsche foresee the impact of his late 1950s design? Looking back, perhaps not. Working with Erwin Komenda, he was tasked to develop a new Porsche model to succeed the aging 356. The brief: wheelbase max 2.20 m, engine and drive at the rear, and unmistakable Porsche character—defining the brand’s style for decades to come.
Once launched as a pure performance model, the GT3 is now a staple on race circuits around the globe. Its engine isn’t shy, matching rivals in raw horsepower—but its real strength: the corners. No wonder the world’s top carmakers see the 911 GT3 as the ultimate track benchmark year after year. What could be better than letting this thoroughbred loose on a real racetrack?
